“What’s a nice Grandmother and Neuro-Coach like you doing in the HEMP Industry?”

“What’s a nice Grandmother and Neuro-Coach like you doing in the HEMP Industry?”

(Or sub out the word grandmother for mom, professional affiliate marketer, life coach or neuroscience coach)!

“You left a six-figure residual income on the table to launch a start-up in a new, (widely misunderstood) product on a global scale? Have you lost your mind?”

And, my personal favorite: ”Kary, are you selling marijuana?”

Interesting questions. Interesting times. I’m excited to share my experience and perspective on a new, legal-in-all 50 states, proprietary HERO product I recently discovered – and the pre-launch global business venture that comes along with it!

I feel led, primed and poised to help create wellness and lifestyle – for millions around the globe in the next 36 months.

Let’s dig into it! The story behind the story will, I hope, offer some education and perspective I think you’ll find helpful – whether you are an entrepreneur, a wellness professional or a life-long learner interested in integrative or complementary solutions to creating a balanced, happy and healthy life. I believe will be my finest chapter yet as an entrepreneur, wellness professional, and business coach. More importantly, I believe this chapter of my professional life will define my legacy of being a life-long learner and student of holistic modalities, helping people, and having the courage to be true to myself and my values in business.

In 2016 I went through many significant changes in my life: a long-distance move from my life-long home in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Denver, Colorado for my husband’s career as an executive labor and employment attorney; becoming an empty-nester after nearly 30 years of having a life full of kids; becoming a grandmother for the first time; and leaving a business after 3 years and as a top earner because it no longer resonated with my mind, body and soul. What a cluster!

Have you ever dealt with change on a massive scale? It’s difficult and complicated, to say the least. And even if you have training and experience, it isn’t always easy to follow your own life-coaching advice in the day-to-day pursuit of building a new, authentic, purpose-filled and prosperous life. It’s definitely a process.

So how does a grandmother, a mom, a wife, an affiliate marketing industry leader and neuro-coach get into the world of HEMP? For me, it was by complete accident. I reached out to a trusted friend and fellow leader from a past company, and she mentioned it to me. Being fairly new to Colorado, I knew very little about hemp, marijuana, THC and CBD, etc. I did know that it had become a multi-billion dollar and only growing bigger industry in the State of Colorado. I also knew that I had zero interest in smoking pot or getting high. But I was very curious about how it could help the body as a powerful anti-oxidant and dietary wellness supplement, and how it might dovetail with my personal passions and quest to help people deal with anxiety, depression and pain management, specifically. Many of my new neighbors from the pool and book club spoke about using it for pain relief, sleep, and other health issues. (Sidenote: I suffer from chronic pain from a car accident, I feel daily stress in the midst of al the change in my life, and I also have annoying menopausal symptoms that affect my sleep, mood and energy). Needless to say, I was open to a better way of living, especially when it came to incorporating a simple, safe, plant-based, one-stop-wellness-shop solution.

I started thinking, “WHAT IF there was something here in the hemp family of plants that I could embrace and partner with as an entrepreneur, affiliate marketer, neuro-coach, wellness passionista, mom, wife, friend, sister, animal lover, creative, empath and healer?” And as I learned more I started to appreciate this plant, the new technology and existing science behind it:

· What if that solution was a nano-enhanced technology with a sustainable, naturally grown hemp oil, which has been used for a wide range of healthy benefits dating back more than 3,000 years? What if this formula could help to optimize the mind & body, efficiently and naturally? What if it was grown on pesticide-free, non-GMO farms and bred for the CBD healing, medicinal properties vs. THC psychoactive properties that gave people a “high”?

· What if it had a unique liposomal delivery system, which dramatically improved the bioavailability of the oil? What if the product was considered a legal Dietary Supplement and contained industrial hemp extract derived from the whole hemp plant, which delivers healthful benefits, without the psychoactive or “high” effect associated with this type of botanical?

· What if this proprietary, non-THC (<0.3%) Phytocannabinoid Diol Hemp Extract used cutting-edge liposomal delivery methods to increase absorption of this exceptional natural compound? (Phytocannabinoid Diols help with pain management and feelings of relaxation).

Did you know that Cannabinoid receptors are found throughout the body, primarily in the immune system and the structures associated with healthy immune functioning? With these cannabinoid receptor sites spread throughout our entire bodies, it is paramount these receptors are working properly to keep this important internal system functioning to protect you.

This article is just scratching the surface of Hemp 101. Do you want to do your own research? (I highly encourage it). I recommend going to www.pubmed.gov and putting “cannabinoids” and/ or “CBD” + any health issue or disease state you are interested in or are currently dealing with. You will find over 20,000 peer-reviewed scientific articles there on anything – from different types of cancer, stroke, Diabetes, Parkinson’s, Epilepsy / seizures, Alzheimer’s – to Brain Injury, Trauma and more. Wow! Who knew? (I LOVE science – and it’s critical to me in the decision to attach my name, personal brand and energy to a product or a company).

Also, be sure to look up the U.S. Patent on Cannabinoids #6630507:

US Patent 6,630,507 Cannabinoids as Antioxidants and Neuroprotectants

“Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism. This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and HIV dementia. Nonpsychoactive cannabinoids, such as cannabidoil, are particularly advantageous to use because they avoid toxicity that is encountered with psychoactive cannabinoids at high doses useful in the method of the present invention.”

The Neuroscience Coach and Wellness Enthusiast in me – with a passion for helping people live better – almost fell off my chair (see post photo) when I read it!

So, to answer the question at the beginning of this article, THIS is exactly what a grandmother, mom, affiliate marketer, and coach is doing in an industry like this: Educating people and helping them live on a higher level – in their health, business and lifestyle!

The Global Market for Hemp has surged as interest in High Quality Hemp products continues to grow. U.S. Consumer sales of hemp products will reach over $7.1 billion in 2016, and the U.S. market for hemp products is expected to reach $22 billion in consumer sales by year 2020.

A Google search for “CBD” currently produces 109,000,000 results.

How to be the best version of you (and keep operating at a peak state)

How to be the best version of you (and keep operating at a peak state)

Let’s face it… We all have our ups and downs in life – some more than others. But who’s to say that your highs and lows have to define you?

It’s okay to have challenging days.

We all have them. It’s a matter of learning how to take that not so great day and run with it, or even take your good days and run with those too.

So how do you keep up the momentum and stay operating at your peak state – even on difficult days? Bottom line: you are fearless, you are one of a kind, and you walk with purpose and passion. No silly low point or challenging day can stop you.

Being YOURSELF is already the best (most authentic) version of you that you can be – don’t doubt that. So, I wanted to give you a little something for the days when you’re feeling low and your inner self is expecting you to stay in that headspace. Here are 5 ways that you can continue to be the best version of yourself and keep the momentum going.

1. Support your brain and it will support you

Let’s face it, your body won’t function well if you aren’t taking care of it. First thing’s first – take care of your brain. Feed your body the correct nutrients that will stimulate your brain so that you can start your day off as healthy and happily as possible. Here’s a list of 10 foods that will boost your brainpower, and most of them you can incorporate as a yummy snack!  Second, drink water.  Your brain is 70% water and it requires hydration to focus and perform well throughout the day. Make sure you aim to drink 100 ounces of water every day.. Third, get a good night’s sleep.  Most people require 7-9 hours of sleep per night.  Your brain needs quality sleep to rejuvenate and recover from each day’s activities. Lack of sleep leads to irritability, stress and a decrease in creativity and overall brain performance.

When you take care of your brain, you take care of your body. No more mid-afternoon crashes, no more wanting to pull your hair out over something stressful, and no more unnecessary irritation. Trust me when I say that not only your brain, but your body will thank you!

2.You are who you surround yourself with

If you surround yourself with positive influences, you become positive. In my day to day life, I constantly try to surround myself with the people who help me to be the best version of me. That means I seek out people who challenge me, motivate me, laugh with me, encourage me; I seek out people who stay positive. If you’re surrounded by greatness, you will have no choice but to be great as well.

Here are the 5 types of people to surround yourself with for success. Keep yourself around like-minded people who will constantly spread the greatness. You’ll start wondering how you ever surrounded yourself with anything else!

3.Strengths & weaknesses – Identify yours

It’s natural for us as humans to have certain strengths and weaknesses. For instance, a field that I may be great in, you may not be, and vice versa. It’s a lack of self-awareness and trying to be good at everything that start to create a problem. Take a step back and look within yourself. Identify your strong suits and lead with them. If you start something off strong, you’re more likely to finish strong as well.  Consider your weaknesses (growth areas) and collaborate or work with those who fill in the gaps or complement your skill sets.

4. Start small, execute, then go big

I always recommend having daily and even weekly goals. However, if you’re a little bit new to setting so many goals, it’s imperative that you start small. I’ve been setting personal goals for years and still have a list of smaller ones that I set everyday.

Setting smaller daily goals allows you to actually see your progress. When you see your progress, you feel better about yourself, and when you feel better, you do better. Take baby steps to lead the way into setting larger, long term goals; it’ll keep you focused and excited today about becoming the best you that you can be in the future!

5.Read, read & did I say… Read?

We as humans never stop learning. So how do you be the best version of you? Keep growing. Keep reading, anything from positive daily affirmations, to your favorite author’s new book. I’m a huge advocate of taking some time out of your day to read something that will help you grow, personally and professionally.

Try looking up different motivational speakers. Not only do they have great motivating videos, but they have great books as well. Ultimately, reading books can make you an all around better person.

The best version of you has been there the whole time – it’s just a matter of becoming self-aware, getting to know and then keeping up with her. Take the needed steps to allow yourself to keep the success flowing and the negativity in check. You’re capable of anything that you put your mind to, so step up today and feel good about it. Always remember, when you feel better, you’ll do better!

What are some ways that you keep yourself motivated and feeling good?
Let me know in the comments, I’d love to hear.

I almost gave up.

I almost gave up.

My “I almost gave up” story:  Can you relate on any level?

I almost gave up on my industry and the idea of working for myself, from home as an entrepreneur… It’s true.

What a shame that would have been as I reflect on the blessings and life-changing impact I have had and I am continuing to have on thousands of people in my circles over the past three years… Intuitively, I knew that I was close.  I had worked hard and experienced significant success in “party plan” direct sales as a young mom from 2000-2007.  I literally “fell” into that company  And I was really good.

I’m ever-grateful for the confidence and experience it provided, but after seven years, I 100% knew that I could not continue to “party” for a living.  It was exhausting and I could not sustain it.  My teenagers needed me.  And the traveling, training and partying were taking their toll on my life.  Plus, home parties were no longer “on-trend”.  In addition, starting over every month with regard to my paychecks and recruiting hostesses, new customers was getting OLD…  And, something was wrong with the compensation plan.  As a top leader, everyone thought I had the “tiger by the tail” …but I didn’t.  Everyone in my business wanted to be me – and yet I knew if they knew what I was experiencing, they wouldn’t.  In looking at other options, I considered selling “consumables”.  Specifically, luxury, premium skincare.  From France.  Ooh-lala.  That sounded “parfait” / perfect.  I could finally use my high school and college french ;  ) – as a top leader in a new start-up.  Alas, the economy crashed just before our launch and my friends were purchasing skincare from Target – if at all.  Bummer.

Then, my dad suddenly became very ill and I lost him to colon cancer at a very young age (54). I started becoming more and more passionate about nutrition and wellness.  I found a nutraceutical company that was fascinating, but very complicated.  I loved the product – but it was hard to explain it.  And people didn’t understand it or necessarily  “feel’ any different on the product.  I was successful, but not uber-successful.  So I almost gave up and this “unemployable mompreneur” went to work for someone else.  For three years.  And it made me sick.  I sold my gifts and talents to someone that could not pay me what I was worth.  And then, out of the blue, I found my next place in online relationship marketing.  It was a start-up in the wellness industry (my passion) and I thought I was finally HOME building a legacy (*sigh*)…

Almost three years later, with millions in organizational sales, at the top rank of the company for almost a year, earning six figures+, things started to feel very, very wrong.  My intuition was that this was no longer the business or brand I joined 35 months prior.  The company was flooding the market with discounted products, and even worse, discounting the opportunity… along with failing to honor global expansion timelines.  My team was not rank advancing, in fact many were losing their luxury auto bonuses (never a good sign / a red flag in a company).  There were other disturbing things that came to light as well.  I was devastated and heart-sick; my faith was gone.  And just like any relationship, when trust is gone, so is the foundation of what was being built in good faith.

So I started seeking out and exploring new, start-up opportunities.  I interviewed several companies, their executives, and leaders.  My criteria included:  humble, proven leadership; a business partner that could bring support and value to my personal brand; a sound business strategy and compensation plan; a global reach / expansion platform; and a first-to-market, science-backed, life-changing HERO product.  Boom!  I made a difficult decision and resigned from my previous company.  I never thought I’d begin again, but sometimes your mind, body, and soul spur change – and lead you to something BETTER, that honors your gifts, talents and values.  Change is never easy, but in this life change is constant and you have to keep growing… you cannot allow yourself to go backwards.

I’m now in pre-launch / soft launch, builder mode.  And it feels invigorating.  To be a part of something new is a privilege; yes, it takes guts, hard work, patience; but it’s also an honor to be part of shaping a culture and laying the groundwork for the masses.  I am once again laying my head down at night, knowing that I am making an impact on people’s lives – living wellness and creating lifestyle – for those to come!  I invite you to explore coming on this adventure with me!  Contact me for more details or subscribe here for access to my “Prime Tribe”!  Cheers to new beginnings.
